Is fighting ever really fair?

"Pick battles big enough to matter, small enough to win."
-Jonathan Koziol
As many of you know from reading previous posts, I do not like fighting. I do not like to see others fight or even, myself, be involved in a fight. When I am pushed to my breaking point, I will fight, and I will fight hard. When I let things build up though, my reaction to what is actually happening is usually too extreme. For those reasons, fighting to me is rarely fair. I think that I should have conversations before issues escalate into a fight. There are no winners in most fights; all parties get hurt. So I ask you, is fighting ever really fair?
