Decorate your house with family and friends

Image
"The ornament of a house is the friends who frequent it." - Ralph Waldo Emerson     This is one of my goals in the next year. I would like to make where I live a home and spend time having my loved ones over. I will stop making excuses and I will decorate my house with family and friends . Make friends, not enemies

Image
"Tact is the knack of making a point without making an enemy ." -Sir Isaac Newton     I just finished watching the movie A Long Walk to Freedom about Nelson Mandela. I was inspired and moved to make a difference in the world that I live in, but his words "No one is born hating another person...a person learns to hate. We can be taught to love..." just touched my soul. I  want to "unlearn" how to hate. I choose to make friends , not enemies even with those that hurt me. Treat your friends as well as you would an acquaintance

Image
"It is wise to apply the oil of refined politeness to the mechanisms of friendship." -Colette    We often take our friends and family for granted. We are friendly and polite to our waitress at a restaurant, but let our loved ones experience the consequences our bad mood. Tell your closest friends how you are feeling, yet treat them as well as you would an acquaintance. Author Susan Marie Schulhof http://susanmarieschulhof.blogspot.com

See your true self

Image
"The best mirror is an old friend ." -George Herbert     Sometimes my friends don't always want to tell me the truth , but I want honesty in my life. I choose to learn my life lessons, and see my true self . Author Susan Marie Schulhof http://susanmarieschulhof.blogspot.com

Value your friends

Image
Ben Johnson was quoted as saying, "True friendship consists not in the multitude of friends , but in their worth and value." Just like family  members, I sometimes take my friends for granted, expecting that they will always be around. Even though we may reconnect in the future, the truth is that friends do go off to college, take jobs that force them to  move away, or even die too early. Other times life simply takes them down paths that are different from the one that you are on, and you grow apart. While they are in my life, I want to show my friends that I care about them.
