Turn a wish into a goal

Image
Antoine de Saint-Exupery was quoted as saying, "A goal without a plan is just a wish ." As little children we wish upon a star , or make one when blowing out our birthday candles, but how often do those wishes come true simply by wishing? As we grow up, we come to understand that to reach for your dreams , we must make a plan and then take steps towards achieving it. Wishing is enjoyable, and we should continue to do it, but to make your desires a reality though, you must turn that wish into a goal . Dreamers create and build

Image
"We need men who can dream of things that never were." -John F. Kennedy     Look at your life and decide what you can create and build . Can you write a song? Can you create a story? Can you design a building? Can you invent something that makes the world a better place? Do you just go through the motions of life or do you dream? I am a dreamer; dreamers create and build. Intentions create

Image
One of Robert F. Kennedy's famous quotes is "There are those that look at things the way they are, and ask why? I dream of things that never were, and ask why not?" As I researched this I found out that apparently George Bernard Shaw said this first, but this and ones similar resonate deeply with me. Anyone who has read my blog , or will read my books, understands how strongly I believe in the power of thoughts and intentions in life. Although he was probably talking about us as a nation, the words are true for individual lives as well. We can look at our life and ask why not? Why can't I pursue my passions ? Why can't I achieve my goals ? Why can't I live a life of my dreams ? We all can; we just need to believe and create it though our words, thoughts and actions. Any words, thought and actions that contradict these dreams, need to be acknowledged then dismissed. Intentions indeed create . Read my words and see my quotes  at http://su...

To have the vision of others

Image
"Innovation distinguishes between a leader and a follower."                                                                       -Steve Jobs    In researching for today's post, I read quotes by many famous leaders, but this one by Steve Jobs resounded with me. Often people, including myself, have ideas for inventions , creations and designs in life or in their career . What separates those who dream and those who pursue? What differentiates the ones that try and the ones that achieve? It is simple to see the difference between the dreamers versus the pursuers; it is action, and probably repeated and continual action. I can't think of anyone who achieved their dreams simply by wishing, however what about the people who attempt to make their dreams a reality, yet the final achievement k...

Do you take chances or always play it safe?

Image
How do you approach life? My quote today asks if you take chances or do you play it safe? If you are like me, some areas of my life I play it safe whereas others times I do take chances. I am pretty safe in my parenting choices, my career path and my financial decisions. Traveling is the one area that I love to take chances in. My daughters and I have went on short trips over their spring breaks, and I think that it even surprises them when I say that we have a destination but we will "fly by the seat of our pants" to arrive there. I love that feeling of freedom.  My dream would be to just get in the car and drive with a vague destination like California or Yellowstone in mind. I would drive until I see something that interests me and stop. I have a deep yearning to see the world, and would want the freedom to explore it all. I almo...
