Faith just is, you cannot learn it

Image
"Not truth, but faith it is that keeps the world alive." -Edna St. Vincent Millay    For me, faith is not simply believing that everything will work out as I would like it to. Faith instead is the understanding that there is purpose and meaning to the life that I am living and the situations that I encounter, even the negative ones. I make a choice every day to believe . Faith just is, you cannot learn it. Author Susan Marie Schulhof http://susanmarieschulhof.blogspot.com

Become aware of life around you

Image
Buddha says, "There is only one time when it is essential to awaken. That time is now." Many people go through life without even thinking about why we are here or what the purpose of living is. I can't even imagine a life without purpose and meaning. It is unfathomable to me that my life would just be about being born, getting older and then dying. I  believe that there is more; I choose to become aware of life around me. http://www.amazon.com/Susan-Marie-Schulhof/e/B00IBPFHV8 https://twitter.com/SchulhofSusan Read my words and see my quotes  at http://susanmarieschulhof.blogspot.com or follow my page at            https://www.facebook.com/susanmarie.schulhof.7?ref=hl

Your mind creates

Image
Abraham Lincoln said, " Most folks are about as happy as they make up their minds to be." As many others, I had been raised to think that my level of happiness is contingent on the circumstances that I am experiencing. It is true that you can't control how other's are treating you, yet you can decide how you will respond. We might not be able to control what we encounter, but we can determine our own experience and meaning of it. I  still sometimes have a difficult time separating the two, but I try every day.   Choose happiness and peace no matter what life is sending your way because your mind creates . Believe that you can

Image
"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful committed citizens can change the world . Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has." -Margaret Mead    Sometimes I try to tackle a problem alone. It takes longer and is much more difficult though. We can be better parents, better co-workers and better human beings when we work together to solve problems. Other people can help me see something that I couldn't see on my own. I think in life, people want to feel competent and feel like we can do things on our own, yet we are stronger as a group. We can achieve more together and with the belief that we can. Believe in yourself

Image
Muhammad Ali was quoted as saying, "I figured that if I said it enough, I would convince the world that I really was the greatest ." What do you go around saying about yourself? Do you say "I am smart", "I am pretty", or "I am caring"? Or do you say "I am so fat", "I am stupid" and "I am unhappy"? Muhammad must have believed in the power of thoughts and the power of words if he decided that he could convince the world that he was the greatest by his words and by his actions .  If you look him up it states that he is considered to be one of the greatest heavyweights in boxing.  He did not say that he is the greatest and then sit on the couch though. He worked to become the greatest ; he said that he was the greatest, and he was. I do believe in myself and I will work hard to be all that I believe. Believe in the goodness of life

Image
"More persons, on the whole, are humbugged by believing in nothing than by believing in too much."                                                              -P.T. Barnum    P.T. Barnum was a businessman and entertainer. He was remembered for founding the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus . He obviously believed in much to create and develop such a wondrous event such as a circus.  I think most entertainers and creators would need to believe to do what they do. They might be disappointed at times but the alternative thought of believing in nothing would keep them from ever creating. Believing in nothing is like just giving up and never trying. I would rather believe in others, and trust in the overall goodness of life and humankind, even if it does lead to disappointments s...
