Be satisfied today
"Look at a day when you are supremely satisfied at the end. It's not a day when you lounge around doing nothing; it's when you had everything to do, and you've done it," according to Margaret Thatcher. I am satisfied when I have had a day with my daughters or following my dreams and passions . As I near the age of fifty, I am more determined than ever to spend my days doing things that make me happy . I still will do stuff that my loved ones enjoy at times because that makes me happy too, but I refuse to spend each and every day making others happy instead of myself. I chose to be satisfied today. Andy Warhol said, "They say that time changes things, but you actually have to change them yourself." I believe that most people agree that we are responsible for changing our own lives , but the question is how? How do we change it? How do we create the life of our dreams ? There are many books and DVD's on the topic of how to guide your life through intentions and thoughts. Seat of the Soul, Conversations with God, The Secret and Four Agreements are a couple of books I have read regarding this topic over the years. They all explain that everything in our lives are a reflection of you and your intentions . Beauty is found in adversity
"Now is the winter of our discontent." -William Shakespeare I love this picture of the snow and ice on the trees in winter. When the snow coats the trees, it is beautiful. Just like I can find this beauty in the cold winter season, I can find beauty in the trials and tribulations of my life . Even though I have encountered some difficulties in my life, I try to find the positives that come out of these hardships. I have been more focused on writing my book and my blog in order to pursue my life long dreams . Some of my relationships have grown stronger, and we are closer than ever before. We can all see the stars

We are all connected to one another. I think that is an important concept for people to understand, but I already wrote about that idea in the post called I am only a small part of the universe . Intentions create
One of Robert F. Kennedy's famous quotes is "There are those that look at things the way they are, and ask why? I dream of things that never were, and ask why not?" As I researched this I found out that apparently George Bernard Shaw said this first, but this and ones similar resonate deeply with me. Anyone who has read my blog , or will read my books, understands how strongly I believe in the power of thoughts and intentions in life. Although he was probably talking about us as a nation, the words are true for individual lives as well. We can look at our life and ask why not? Why can't I pursue my passions ? Why can't I achieve my goals ? Why can't I live a life of my dreams ? We all can; we just need to believe and create it though our words, thoughts and actions. Actions make your dreams come true
Today's topic in The Daily Book of Positive Quotations is about taking responsibility for your life. Linda Picone explains that many people think that their life would be different if only they were given the opportunity. I agree with Linda that the chances are that those people were given opportunities that they did not take. As I reflect on my life, there were many paths I could have taken, some that I did take and others I did not. It was a big decision for me when I chose to self publish my book Fun4Babies . I also made a conscious choice to take on more responsibility at work that ultimately led to the opportunity of mentoring and training other teachers. Opportunities may present themselves, but they do require action. If you spoke to most athletes, writers, singers or CEO's of companies, you will hear of a long list of choices they made to get to where they are. Rarely would you hear a story of success without work on their part....
