We gain strength from adversity

Image
Soren Kierkegaard was quoted as saying, " Adversity draws men together and produces beauty an harmony in life's relationships, just as the cold of winter produces ice-flowers on the windowpanes, which vanish with the warmth." Many of the quotes in The Daily Book of Positive Quotations revolve around forgiveness, mistakes and problems. Today's is no different; problems help people to learn and grow in life. I have had a challenging last year, yet I have had the most success in writing and pursuing my dreams. Difficulties definitely made me follow my heart. We gain strength  from adversity . Use your ability to adapt to learn and grow

"It is not the strongest of the species that survive, nor the most intelligent, but the most responsive to change ," as said by Charles Darwin. As I have discussed in previous posts, life changes; nothing stays the same. I started writing a book years ago based on the idea of tolerance , which is the ability of an organism to thrive and grow under adverse conditions. I have prayed, meditated and contemplated this concept for many years, trying to make sure that whatever life throws my way that I can learn and grow from it. I believe that I have done well, but I want to continue to use my ability to adapt to learn and grow. Read my words and see my quotes at http://susanmarieschulhof.blogspot.com

Can I learn and grow from the good, as well as from the difficult times of my life?

William Butler Yeats said that, "We are happy when we are growing ." When my daughters were little, we had a growth chart on the kitchen door. They were constantly asking me, "Did I grow?", and I would stop everything to measure them. If they grew, we would mark off their new height and the date, and they would be so excited. If they did not grow, I would give them suggestions of how they could help themselves grow taller like, "Drink more milk, get more sleep, play outside more." Do we stop growing once we reach adulthood? How can we measure our personal development and growth ? We can't lean against the door to measure it, but hopefully we continue to grow our whole lives. If I had a chart that measured my growth, I would probably see large spikes where I went through the most difficult times of my life like my divorce and my father's death.  When my life is going great, I am less likely to grow and change.  Unfortuna...
