Will the waves take her under?

Image
Riding Waves   is a YA and NA Fiction Novel about learning to navigate the joys, as well as, the trials of growing up, falling in love and going to college. It appears that Harper’s life is heading in the direction of her dreams as she graduates from high school and begins to date her best friend’s charismatic older brother, Dan. As she struggles to balance her own needs with the demands of being in a relationship, she loses her best friend and is in danger of losing herself. She has some hard decisions to make when her choices lead her only to confusion and pain. While on vacation in Florida, she writes a poem comparing her own life to how she feels when body surfing. She realizes that just like in body surfing, she must decide which waves will take her to shore and towards her dreams, and which choices might take her under and cause her only pain.  Can Harper ride the waves of life or will they take her under? https://itunes.apple.com/…/susan-marie-schulhof/id613849...

Be thankful

Image
Buddha said, "Let us rise up and be thankful,  for if we didn't learn a lot today, at least we learned a little, and if we didn't learn a little, at least we didn't get sick, and if we got sick, at least we didn't die;  so, let us all be thankful ."  It is so easy to look at others and feel envious of all that they have, but no one can see areas they feel empty.  I have a gratitude journal that I write in often, not daily, when I need to shift the focus from what I am lacking in life to what I have in life. I try to stay thankful.     https://itunes.apple.com/…/susan-marie-schulhof/id613849093… http://www.amazon.com/Susan-Marie-Schulhof/e/B00IBPFHV8 http://www.barnesandnoble.com/s/Susan+Marie+Schulhof…

Head, heart and hands...

Image
Dr. Gary Burge said, "A vibrant faith must know, feel and DO." What a way to look at my faith and discern what area I need to explore and develop. Do I need more knowledge? Do I need to go inward and feel God? Do I need to take action and do more to demonstrate my faith? I choose to have my head, heart and hands devoted to God. https://twitter.com/SchulhofSusan https://www.facebook.com/susanmarie.schulhof.7

Mother's need thanks

Image
When I was little, I expected my   Mother  to be perfect and know all of the answers. I am sure that my own daughter's felt that way about me growing up as well. Then as they got older and realized that I made mistakes and messed up at times, it probably made them a little angry and upset. It is difficult to understand that Mom's are human and capable of being wrong, yet as a  Mother  I gave everything I had for my girls and would have done anything for them. Mother's are not perfect, but we do do the best that we can with what we know at that time in our lives. I am grateful for a day that celebrates Mother's and gives us all a day to say thanks. Happy Mother's Day ! https://twitter.com/SchulhofSusan https://www.facebook.com/susanmarie.schulhof.7

Love the unloveable

Image
I read once that in order to be loving person, we must be loving to those we dislike, or those we feel don't deserve our love. It is easy to be a loving person towards those that we care about and treat us well, but how about others? https://www.facebook.com/susanmarie.schulhof.7

Love what you have

Image
"When we cannot get what we love , we must love  what is within our reach." French Proverb     There is more to this proverb than settling for what you have. I think that often people look at what they cannot have in a grandiose fashion. They think if they could date that person, have that job, live in that house that their life would be perfect. For me this quote is about enjoying what you have while reaching for your goals. So love what you do have right now. Author Susan Marie Schulhof http://susanmarieschulhof.blogspot.com

Children=Love

Image
According to Fyodor Dostoyevski, "The soul is healed by being with children ." I have always wanted to be a mother. Even though raising my daughters has been much more difficult than I could ever imagine, it has brought me immense joy and happiness. It fills me with a love for them that cannot be contained. It taught me about myself, about life and about a happiness that can not be described with words. Being a mother has indeed healed my soul because my children fill me with a love that just keeps increasing. Children=love . Author Susan Marie Schulhof http://susanmarieschulhof.blogspot.com

Act from a place of love

Image
Woodrow Wilson said, "If you think about what you ought to do for other people, your character will take care of itself. Character is a by-product, and any man who devotes himself to its cultivation in his own case will become a selfish prig." Instead of being selfish, act from a place of love .    Author Susan Marie Schulhof          http://susanmarieschulhof.blogspot.com

Include yourself in the ones that you love

Image
"Buddha said, "You, yourself as much as anybody in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection. We are taught to be kind to others, but do we ever learn the importance of caring about ourselves? Include yourself in the ones that you love .        Author Susan Marie Schulhof          http://susanmarieschulhof.blogspot.com

I love all of life

Image
According to Oliver Wendell Holmes, "It's faith in something and enthusiasm for something that makes life worth living." I have faith that life is good, and I am excited to find my life purpose. Even though it can be challenging at times, I love all of life . Author Susan Marie Schulhof http://susanmarieschulhof.blogspot.com
